Mediation
More and more of our clients are choosing mediation to resolve their disputes. Mediation is now one of the most common forms of alternative dispute resolution, especially in the light of the CPR requirements. Even when it is not a requirement it can often provide an ad hoc solution to an intractable problem. It is a flexible, cost effective tool suited to both simple and complex disputes.
We have successfully mediated charterparty disputes involving multiple parties as well as individual insurance claims. For example, Ross & Co recently represented owners in a multi-million dollar dispute against a major oil company further to a safe port dispute arising from a time-charter. Elsewhere, Jane Martineau has considerable experience of mediations in the insurance field including mediation involving cross-jurisdictional issues.
